Dana Young
Announces Candidacy for Florida House, District
57 |
Tampa, Florida – Dana D. Young, a long-time South
Tampa resident has just filed as a candidate for the House of Representatives District 57 seat
currently held by Rep. Faye Culp, who will not be seeking re-election in November of 2010 due
to term limitations.
Young, a sixth generation Floridian, is an attorney who has represented a broad spectrum of
businesses and land owners in regulatory compliance, permitting, zoning, and administrative
law proceedings.
“As a long time community resident, I understand the challenging economic times and issues
facing our community, state and nation, and I bring the perspective of an attorney, wife, and
mother to these issues,” said Young.
Community Leaders are already expressing strong support for Dana Young’s campaign. “Dana is
very intelligent and diligent. She believes strongly in good government and will be an
excellent representative of the people of this community,” commented Rhea Law, CEO and Chair
of the Board of Fowler White Boggs, P.A. In addition, Arthur R. Savage, President & CEO of A.R.
Savage & Son, Inc. remarked that “Dana is a fine person, who is running for the right reasons.
Her deep Florida roots, experience as a land use attorney and interest in serving the public
good, will make her a fine Representative.”
Young, a Republican and current member of the Hillsborough County Republican Party Executive
Committee, is a member of the Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association and actively
volunteers at St. John’s Episcopal School. Along with her extensive background in both law and
business regulations, Dana has had the privilege of taking time away from her legal practice
to be a full-time mom and raise her children, Alexandra and Carson. She has been married for
nineteen years to Matt Young, a local business owner.
“If we have the good fortune to elect Dana as our representative, we will gain an advocate of
unquestionable integrity, intellect and judgment who will be true to her well guided
convictions, rather than to what might be politically expedient. This integrity combined with
her ability to truly understand the most complex of issues gives Dana the credibility and
skill set to be an insightful and effective voice for our community,” said Glen B. Oken, a
local business investor.
Florida House District 57 includes South Tampa, and parts of Tampa, Town ‘n’ Country, and
Westchase. The Republican primary will be held on August 24, 2010 with the general election to
be held on November 2, 2010.
